Tipu's Chai: Decaffeinated Slow Brew Black Tea Chai Latte Dry Mix |
|
|
Tipu’s Decaffeinated Slow Brew Authentic Indian Chai is not an instant mix. It requires 6 minutes of simmering (3 minutes with water first, then 3 more with milk added) and straining. There is NO sweetener here. Instead, the directions are simply “sweeten to taste.” This is the decaf version of Tipu’s Slow Brew Authentic Indian Chai, and it is virtually identical in tasts. Made with organic and non-irradiated tea and spices, this chai is a great option for those who want truly authentic chai and aren’t in a hurry... those who may actually enjoy the ritual of simmering and straining tea. In straining, the tea and spices were so thick as to require pausing and rinsing the strainer after pouring each cup. It is thick! And the astringent quality of the spices are strong here. The taste is surely authentic. My preference here was to add slightly more milk than called for, rounding up to 1 full cup milk to 2 cups water. Using Xylitol for a natural sugar-substitute sweetener, 1 teaspoon per cup gives a mildly sweet result.
