Third Street Chai: Yerba Maté Latte Chai Liquid Concentrate
Yerba Mate tea has a distinctly more bitter "bite" to it than traditional black tea. And you can really taste the Yerba Mate here. It is as if this aspect of the chai just leaps out into the forefront, pushing the other taste elements behind it. But it's not strongly bitter in any sense, as the tea flavor's distinct slight bitterness is offset nicely by a counterbalancing sweetness. The point is simply that it's there in the mix, and you will notice it.
Yerba Mate is also reputedly packed with even more antioxidants, vitamins and minerals than green tea, so is preferred by many for its health benefits. It is also used in many countries for weight loss, and is even known as the "weight loss tea" as it seems to affect metabolism.
